Range of pay-out is 33-50% depending on brand, condition, and demand for item at time of purchase. Please limit clothing items to 2 shopping bags per visit or one large storage bin.

We will accept clothing according to season:

SPRING/SUMMER – January thru July
FALL/WINTER – August thru December

Winter Coats accepted starting October 1

Raincoats and rainboots are year-round. We are in Seattle, afterall!

Non seasonal items can be accepted on an individual basis, please call ahead!

Pricing Items:

Kookaburra Kids is always on the hunt checking out other stores to ensure that our pricing of items is not too high or too low.  Items are generally priced based on a percentage of the original value, on average 35% of retail for clothing, 40-60% for Toys and Gear. Higher end brands have higher pay out than the more mid-priced brands. Condition of clothing and whether it is in season is also a factor.

Kookaburra Kids items are priced based on what we think our customers will pay for an item.  High ticket items are researched and priced accordingly.  All items are also accepted and priced according to brand, style, fabric content, demand, size, seasonality, number of items already in stock and its age and wear.

Tips:

  • Remember: Like new & gently-worn sells (and buys) best! Here are some tips to help you get more $ for your items!
  • Polishing shoes and using whiteners on soles really helps!
  • Goo gone helps to remove scuffs from shoes.
  • Wash clothing, dry and try to keep clothes flat in bag or bin to avoid wrinkles.
  • If clothing has been stored away for some time, re-wash to freshen them up, and/or toss in dryer with wet washcloth to get out wrinkles. This cuts down on the time I spend steaming the clothing, and you get paid more!
  • Inspect for spots, tears, missing buttons, etc. I don't purchase items I feel I cannot sell in the shop, and stains are usually biggest reason for rejecting items.
  • Wash  clothing inside out on the gentle cycle in cold water. Tumble dry on low heat. This helps to reduce the "worn" look of even new items.
  • Treat stains with a stain remover such as Oxy Clean in spray bottle immediately after spill. Many stains don't come out after they've been through the drier!
